THE DESCRIPTION:
BookZ is the simplest, fastest e-book reader out there.
THE GOOD:
BookZ reads .txt files without conversion, registration, or ads. Although the initial tap zones are somewhat odd and counterintuitive, you can set your tap zones to something a little more user-friendly by making changes in the preferences section.
THE BAD:
There are no features, nor any button to check the settings; to customize, you must exit the book and then tap preferences. The default page turn works as if the book were written on a legal pad, with a diagonal swipe, rather than the horizontal swipe of standard page turning. To turn backwards, you have to flick diagonally from the upper left corner.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
BookZ does what it needs to, and is incredibly fast. For a free app, go with “Stanza,” which has more features, such as the ability to purchase books, and is also more user-friendly, or “BookzPro” ($4.99) if you like BookZ but need more functions, such as an integrated dictionary and two-finger pinch zoom.
