THE DESCRIPTION:
iMakeups is a database with 100+ instructional beauty videos, with prompts such as “Get Reese Witherspoon’s look,” or “How to give yourself a French manicure.” It’s actually the “Video” section of TotalBeauty.com without any images or format.
THE GOOD:
In each video, a cosmetics professional describes and carries out each step of the process using someone else’s face. If nothing else, the videos are fun and interesting to watch (provided that you like makeup a little) and you may find some valuable tips.
THE BAD:
The app is pretty difficult to navigate and poorly arranged; there are a few spelling errors, too. Some of the videos are segmented, only explaining part of a larger process. If you scroll through and read the lists, you’ll also notice that the prompts get repetitive and there are ads in the margins of the video screen. Ultimately, some of the models look a little more appealing before the “professional” demonstration.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
It won’t cost you anything and the content is interesting enough (I’m sure the website gets a lot of visitors) but there is no system of organization; this is NOT a particularly user-friendly app. ProMakeup offers a more organized database of professional beauty advice for $3.99, but if you want a FREE video database of beauty “how-tos” in an application, this is one-of-a-kind.
