THE DESCRIPTION:
MLB at Bat Lite gives you real time scores, schedules, and standings for Major League Baseball.
THE GOOD:
The front page of the app shows the progress of games that are currently being played. When you select one, it displays the box score, says who’s pitching, who’s batting, and the current count (ex: 1-1, 1 out). Current games are on top, and as you scroll down, you see the scores of games that are finished, as well as time listings for games that have yet to be played. You can look back to previous days for scores, box scores, and pitchers’ wins, losses, and saves. You can look forward to future days to get schedules. Other features include: MLB.com videos, standings (by AL, NL, AL Wild Card, NL Wild Card), and SMS team alerts.
THE BAD:
There is nothing wrong with this app. It’s attractive, and user-friendly. It is, however, light on extras. If you want to spend $9.99, you can buy the full version of MLB at Bat, which includes more extras, most notably the ability to watch whole games in real time.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
For most people, MLB at Bat Lite is sufficient for their needs, and it’s free. For the hardcore fan who can’t bear to miss a game, the full MLB at Bat is a $9.99 all-access pass.
