THE DESCRIPTION:
Rise of Lost Empires is a strategy game with the look of an RPG, a la Warcraft and Starcraft.
THE GOOD:
Rise of Lost Empires a strategy game where 20 is the magic number. There are 20 different unit types, 20 different buildings to construct, and 20 missions to play. The audio is clear and good and the graphics are decent.
THE BAD:
This game feels shallow for an RPG. You do not have to consider resources in the equation of building units – Revenue comes from any farms you build and from your home castle. In addition, the controls are terrible. To select a unit, you tap it, and then tap on an empty space to move it or to attack an enemy. With this small screen, you will often find yourself accidentally moving a different unit, and it’s difficult to zoom to different areas because the camera stays in one place. The game isn’t very fast, either; expect to experience a lot of lag during gameplay.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
There is a LITE version of the game you can play for free to get the basic experience of the game. If you’re desperately waiting for Starcraft II to come out and want something to fill the void, then consider playing Rise of Lost Empires. Otherwise, save yourself the money and do not get this game.
