THE DESCRIPTION:
“Eastern Drawing Free” allows you to create images with ink-like marks using your fingertips.
THE GOOD:
With Eastern Drawing Free, you can customize the color group, specific shade, and size of your stroke. If you don’t want to use any of the preset colors, you can create your own hue by modifying the red/green/blue settings. Choose from 10 different “Korean Paper” backgrounds or select a fill color instead. The ink marks are unique to this application and you can design some pretty cool images that look at least vaguely Asian.
THE BAD:
Using your finger to draw instead of a stylus means the level of detail you can achieve is limited. It takes a while to get used to the interface and the simulated ink-and-paper medium, and there’s a watermark that won’t disappear unless you buy the paid version.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
This is a fun, unique draw tool. If you like drawing applications or you’re just bored, this program has a good level of capability and a stroke style you won’t find in any of its competitors. You’ll need to upgrade to the paid application to get rid of the watermark, so it might be worth $.99 if you like to keep your drawings. Check out “iDoodle Lite” for a traditional draw tool with some of the same customization capabilities.
